At this past weekend’s Charleston Wine + Food Festival, Miller Union Chef Steven Satterfield was honored with the 2020 recipient of the Frank Stitt National Chef Award. Each year, the award is given to a national chef who has had a significant impact on the culinary community with strong consideration of those who have impacted not only Charleston, but the South as a whole.
Satterfield is the executive chef and co-owner of Miller Union, an award-winning, seasonally-driven restaurant. In 2015, Satterfield released his first cookbook, Root to Leaf, to broad critical acclaim and in 2017 was named “Best Chef: Southeast” by the James Beard Foundation. Satterfield’s dedication to seasonal cooking and his unwavering support for local farmers is the driving philosophy behind his restaurant.
Stitt selected Satterfield as this year’s winner and the two chefs cooked Southern nachos during the finale event to celebrate the award. Congratulations Steven Satterfield on the well-deserved recognition!
